Grievance Writing for Discipline and Contract Interpretation Cases

All grievances trigger the contractual procedures that resolve disputes during the term of the agreement.  Effective grievances provide a rational basis for settlement and can increase the odds of obtaining fair consideration and resolution of the claims raised by the grievant.

During this program, the presenters will provide best practice tips and guidelines for writing an effective grievance and will discuss how to:

• write clear and specific grievances that demonstrate what needs to happen and why
• focus on early settlement while keeping an eye on arbitration
• avoid pitfalls when writing a grievance
